The Trade association of Britain's Racecourses

History

The Racecourse Association formed in May 1907.  Eight subscribers signed the Memorandum of Association on the 16th May 1907:

  • C.L Bates, Lieutenant Colonel from Hexham
  • Joseph Bostock, Solicitor from Derby
  • W. Dorning Beckton, Solicitor from Manchester
  • W.J Ford, Race Official from Nottingham
  • Robert R Fowler, Clerk of the Course & Club Secretary to Lingfield Park Racecourse
  • Miles L’Anson, Clerk of the Course and Stakeholder from Malton
  • George H Verrall, Accountant from Newmarket
  • Hwfa Williams, Managed Sandown Park Racecourse

The first offices of the RCA were at 42 Portman Square, London that they shared with the Jockey Club.

In January 1982, the RCA offices moved to Winkfield Road, Ascot the home of the RCA today.
